Oracle or SQL Server. I disagree that Oracle performance via ODBC is slower. I see no evidence of any performance problems using VFP with Oracle. I use this combination in almost all my apps.

As for the cost, Oracle has brought its prices down to be competitive with SQL Server. Both Oracle and MS have confusing pricing schemes for their products.

Both also have a FREE developer version that runs on your local computer -- Personal Oracle and MSDE.

MSDE will also ship free with VFP7.
