Actually, no. If you made the change to the table in SDT's Extended Table Designer, SDT will automatically redefine the view for you. However (and this is likely what you ran into), it doesn't automatically mark new fields as being updateable -- you have to do that yourself.

That said, on my list of things to do in a new version of SDT is to automatically make new fields in a view updateable if the view is an updateable view.
