My mother tried to teach me piano and a little guitar when I was young, but I wasn't interested back then (I'm 28, btw). Unfortunate because now I'd like to be able to play.

I bought a bass in 1999, and I had a friend who was supposed to teach me, but I just don't have any talent in that area, plus that friend and I are no longer on good terms. So all I can play are a few notes from Metallica's Orion, but basically that's it. I can also play a few guitar notes from Nothing Else Matters and Fade to Black (yep, Metallica again). Now the bass (a Jackson PS5, btw) is in its case and is rarely used. I never took "official" lessons.

I can't even read a music sheet - I was playing with tablatures!

And I do have a degree in computer science! :)

I have worked with many who do - and in the last ten years I would say that about 90 % of those who do not have degrees in computer science, play an instrument. Those with degrees in computer science seem to be able to play the keyboard (computer). That comment may start a beef!
