Hi John - thanks so much for your reply. I have done similiar to you but what I found was unless I had the view getting the next PK I could not add - the textboxes just grayed out once I clicked in to type!

If I got the view getting my PK from my Counter table, I have one entry for my customers table and one for the view but only the view was getting updated. I don't know whether this is OK or bad practice or what.

I just want to make sure I am writing good VFP applications using good programming practices.

Is this problem with the view PK and the table PK?
