The database administration tasks can be done in Access 2000 or Visual C++ (I use the VC++ -- it works well). Maybe you'll should consider it.

If you are running a NT family OS (WinNT or Win2000) you should consider to download the SP3 for SQL7 and MSDE. It came with an enterprise manager, so you can use it for MSDE. Unfortunatelly, event MSDE works under Win98 family, the Enterprise manager don't.
