yes... but I would be very careful about using vfp 6 and the unix version. the index's are not the same. so you will have to make a decision as to what applicaiton you will be using - text mode, or pc- windows mode.

Because hardware is so cheep, I wouldn worry about getting a new file server. if you - or that company wants to get this application running in a windows enviroment. however, if they dont want to move off the char based xbase, you can take a look at max. http://www.plugsys.com/ and run the application is Linux. much the same way its running now on U Nix. - or more likley Xenix. I understood that Fox, ran under Xenix. not Unix, years ago. (similar) but not the same. Samba can handle the file shares, and if you go that way. I would highly suggest that you get a webserver (apache) on that box. that way you can manage the file shares with Webmin.- Samba,while it works great. is not simple to manage. - as you will shortly find out. nothing like right clicking on a folder and marking it shared and share as, and permission... its all done on the unix box, in one text file. called smb.conf. (better get used to using VI as well. )
