Not the I can help all that much, but I do recall reading in the specs of http that http itself can accept uploaded files, right over port 80. Front page uses that function I think called http.put or something like that. to 'publish' web pages. rather than using FTP . Any 'web folders' that you have on your system are actually shared folders to a web server, running over http. how it actually works. I cant say. I just know that it is there.

p.s. another thing you can do... becuase FTP is really so nice to handle is either configure your ftp servrer to run on an alternate port (not 21) or use some firewall that maps the actual port 21 of your ftp server to some other port on the internet.... its not hack proof .. but it would slow down some the casual user.
