>>Let's not let folks get the impression that the WSH is some sort of "dangerous, evil" thing. Point of fact, it's a tool, no more and no less. The problem is (as I point out in my article in the current VFUG (
www.vfug.org) newsletter) really twofold. First, it "flys beneath the radar" of anti-virus software since, unless it's encoded, it's just a text file. Second, is ignorance. People aren't aware of it.

>It's not so much ignorance, it's that the default settings don't show the extension, and the script comes in as "nakedwife.jpg" even though the real file name is "nakedwife.jpg.vbs". Even if someone knew what a VBS file was, the JPG extension can fool them.
Good point, and another reason to cut such nonsense off at the gate.
I read (somewhere that I can't recall) that if you produced a virus and sent it out with a name like: "dont_run_this_its_a_virus.exe" (or some such) that many folks would merrily go on and run the thing. While it may be an unproven premise, I think that there may be more than a little validity in such a statement.
