Doug,

There is no protection preventing unlimited re-installs in Windows. Usually, this type of protection is file based or registry-based. (I can think now to a byte written in a protected area on hdd - such as boot record, but it's hard to believe this - and OS will report it, anyway).

If the user are using a Uninstaller software (like Vertisoft Remove-It, for example) it can reinstall the app disregarding the protection.

This type of software will interecept the Setup and will take a snapshot of your system (directories, files, registry keys, etc). After the install, it will take another snapshot and will do the comparison.

When the user wants to uninstall your software, he will use that Uninstaller software, wich will eliminate all the tracks of your app. And after that, the computer will a new one :)

Hope this helps
