I happy to see you found your problem. In the future take a look at parameterized views. They give you the subset of data you want and are also updateable.

After your question appeared I had to revisit the first VFP application I wrote to add more search capabilities to a table maintenance form. This table contains a list of all property tax collectors in the US. I used a filter in the original form to select by state. When a new state was selected there was a serveral second delay for the grid to refresh. While I was working on it, I decided to take my own advice and convert it to use a parameterized view. Now when the user selects a state the refresh is almost instantaneous. The search is much faster too.
