>Doug's suggestion about packing is excellent. You might also do your build from a project that does NOT have the data files in it. Even though the data files are excluded from the completed EXE the project will try to lock them during the build. We've found this to cut Build errors substantially on large projects.

i never include my databases or free tables in the project
(i just use subdirectory structures to keep track of tables).

per your suggestion, i looked into the contents of the pjx
file (that is the one to pack, is it not ?). it appears
to be keeping track of project entities forms, programs,
reports, etc... right ?

i assume a problem could arise when adding, renaming, & deleting
these entities, but my build will hang when i don't do any
of these things, but rather just go in and modify an existing form
for example, and/or run it a time or two. then try to build
and it hangs.

can a form itself be cleaned up or packed in the same manner
that the project be packed ?

thanks for your recommendations.
