I hadn't thought about that means of linking to an image, I'll give it a try and let you know.

When I first started out with Crystal I got pretty clever with all the workarounds needed to massage data into the report layout I wanted - but six months later going back to a 'clever' report was like trying to find your way to the treasure chest at night without a map or flashlight. When I started using VFP as a frontend I could take a more straightforward approach to prepping the data and the documentation was much more obvious.

So I'll go back to clever and see what happens.

I can put an OLE-linked image in the same directory as the report (which takes care of the image update), but Crystal insists on storing the link as absolute rather than relative (at least I haven't found a workaround) so report/image cannot be moved to another directory - and I don't want to impose a directory structure at the site.
