Yes, "scoffing" as a debating tactic is certainly disappointing because it smudges the real topics.

The points I have raised are:

1) That targeting of business decisionmakers is required at this time.
2) That based on past performance, MS is unlikely to do it.

Somebody has suggested that I'm saying this is a deliberate deception by MS. I don't think it is a malign, evil tactic. I think it is pure business. If we accept that VFP marketing is ads in FPA et al and requires no targeting of business decisionmakers, then that's what we'll get. If MS sees that we expect something directed at Gartner and the readers of IT Management, they have to decide whether to deliver or not.

I don't believe they will. Why should they? "Leaders" in our community are either silent on the topic or busy saying that MS has marketed, will market, and that FPA ads are just fine.

yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
