John,

You know, I like you John..

Actually, that is mostly true but I also see what looks like a thought that says, "I Marketing doesn't do something there are no other choices." as well.

Crimeny.. How long has the xBASE language survived without this? If all you count id MSFT-time it's been eight years.

I fail to see the link between that and the notion that if in the very-near-immediate-it-has-to-happen-right-now future that everything is going to simply evaporate.

Even in physics there is this thing called inertia.. <g> That's all I'm suggesting (and having a little fun while I'm at it <g>)

>
>My position is quite simple. I say that decent marketing of VFP requires targeting of business decisionmakers at this time. I don't believe MS will do it.

I agree that it needs to be done. We both do I gather.

I am more optimistic on the second part. The past is not always an exact predictor of the future is all I can say. If we disagree on this I'm content that we do. I think you are ok here as well...

>
>What effect will that have? well, it'll drive contractors out. They say it, not me. And jobs will diminish. Lest you label that emotional, please explain the job figures posted here by somebody else. VFP is way, way down.

It will make for more opportunity for those who stick around for the very same reasons. Inertia, remember? Lots of time. I have accepted the numbers for what they are. I also have suggested that if someone else is concerned that they should go do something about it. I am not and therefore am not as motivated as I'd think others should be but who seem somehow intent on making me do soemthing about their consternations. Why don't they just go do somthing about it themselves if they're so worried??

>
>That this does not affect you or me right now is not the issue. We have to PLAN. I'd like my plan to include VFP. If I am wrong and MS targets business decisionmakers, then that makes it a lot easier to include VFP in the plan.

The PLAN away! I am but for business anf therefore $$ reasons I'll sure noit tell you! <g> I suspect you're too shewd for that.. <g>

*chuckle*

A good fit I'd think. <g>

Thanks again John for helping keep this as civil and intelligent as you have.
Best,
