I haven't done it with other character sets, but I would recommend you talk to Steven Black, creator of INTL, an excellent tool for creating multilingual VFP apps.
http://www.stevenblack.com/intlmain.aspIt uses a Strategy Pattern to allow you to localize fonts so it automatically changes fonts when you change locales.
