I guess I cried 'Wolf' a little too early. Please let me try to clarify. I probably, somehow, never have used grids in quite the same way as I wanted to do now, which explains why I have never had this problem before.

But I found the module 'getgridref' in the txtbtns code. This mudule finds the grids for child records and will cause activation of the offending screen.

I commented out the relevant code, and the problem was solved, except ofor a minor problem - even if my grids were read only, Add or Edit would enable them.

I just make them invisible during edit operations, which I wanted to do anyway.
