A sure fire way to prevent the odbc driver from popup ?

Bob,

The ODBC is popping out by desing. In that dialog box are the username and password. If they are not provided, the dialog pops up.

In the Connexion Designer exists an option group named "Display ODBC login prompts". If you check the "Never" option, the dialog box will not pop out. I don't know, unfortunatelly, how to avoid this using MySQL without a defined conection.

So, I really think that the only way to avoid the dialog box is to supply the all the infos needed.

On the other hand, the ODBC driver is dumb enough to be unable to distiguish if the password is wrong or the server is down (or maybe it knows, but it raises the same ODBC box in all cases).

So, IMO, your chances are quite low.
