>>>I have finally decided to drop the corporate wheelstone and go independant. Although, the initial jump is scary, I'm sure the water is fine after the initial plunge!

>>Good luck, James! I've been an independent consultant for more than 15 years, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'd rather take up carpentry than put up with the usual corporte BS.

Don't you just love it when they stand between you and your end user and and almost make you beg for the information you need to write the app, simply so they can 'lord it over you'. They have no other skill than to be oppressive.

I nearly quit when I first began working where I now work but, thankfully, the pointy-haired fellow announced that he was going to quit and become a network consultant. He knew less about networks than he knew about coding. I told him "have fun - I enjoyed it for 15 years!", which was true, but I knew he didn't have what it took to be successful.

That was five years ago. He didn't make it. He was hired back as a consultant on a short term documentation project. After he left, some programmers tried to use the documentation, but found it worthless. It was thrown away.

Don't take this the wrong way but, have fun! :) (I've seen your replies, you can make it!)
