I was toying with the idea of putting a link start of every newsletter that says something like "if you want a real newsletter subscribe to www.vfug.org ...."

An information source like what I am suggesting may draw more people into the community that don't currently particpate at all or much. On a weekly basis they could spend 5 minutes skimming for information that might be useful. Then head over to VFUG or the UT and download a file, or ask a question about news item. These wouldn't necessarily be new VFP'ers but people that don't have much interest or time on an online community.

Looking back to the Exam study group, this brought a few people out of the woodwork. You may recognize some of the names. Cindy Winegarden, David Stevenson, Carl Karsten... :-)

>I am not convinced. It would clash with VFUG. And I for one, receive too many emails already to be interested in yet another newsletter. VFUG has a ton of links already.

>I agree with spreading the VFP word but diluting the message with too many venues and talking to the converted is not where I would spend the efforts.

>>I am thinking of starting a FoxPro newsletter, just wanted some feedback on whether you would (or not) subscribe to it. This would not be a universal thread newsletter by a personal venture.

>>- sent weekly by email
>>- no articles, but links to interesting news, threads, websites, downloads, events, etc...
>>- it wouldn't complete with the VFUG newsletter since it would be weekly and would not feature articles but would instead be a way for FoxPro developers to keep informed about FoxPro information without having to seek it out.
>>- at this point I am unsure whether to make it non-profit or for profit. Thoughts on this?
>>- membership would be free, with perhaps some advertising to help with web hosting and email list costs
>>- not affiliated with any forum

>>Thoughts on this? Would you subscribe? Yes, no, maybe?
