The VFP7 report writer is mostly the same as it was. It is quite poerful if you know many of its tricks and tips. Cathy Poutney wrote a recent series of articles on this subject.
For the very best in report writers, you have to look into Crystal Reports.
For specialized, and very powerful reports, you could use Word, Excel (especially for math and graphs) and Powerpoint through COM Automation. You could combine Excel charts inside a Word document and create a very powerful multi-page document or report.
