The above is all true, but 'learning' another language and becoming "proficient" at/with it, are two entirely different things.

Even as the world's kindest, most considerate boss I would have a whole lot of trouble taking my 10+ year Fox developers, send them to a few (even in-depth) courses for x-lang and then tell them to convert our bread and butter systems to x-lang.
Sounds simple enough to just say to do it, but suicide is not one of my preferred paths.
