I got sidetracked. You can, with some terminals, set them to "transparent" mode whereby your application can take control of the terminal and redirect output to an auxillary port, be it a modem or printer or another host. As long as you have a single cable from your PC to the DEC, I got the picture.

How about letting me see a piece of your FWRITE() code that works? Something very subtle is happening here, and I can't see it in 4 different setups.
