Well, in case you haven't guessed, I didn't have a chance last weekend to respond to this. I honestly don't know when or if I will. The days just seem to fly by so fast lately.

If you have a specific question, feel free to ask me, but coming up with a general post about Pro series programming is just too time consuming for me right now. Sorry.

Michelle

>Thanks for jumping in. I would be very interested in hearing about some of the modifications you have done to the Pro Series and how you went about it.
>
>I have been using VFP ever since 3.0 but am very new to the Pro Series product. I have been at LMC since last September. We just recently upgraded to 6.0 and have a lot of modifications and enhancements to our overall system that need to be done.
>
>We are using the Pro Series in conjunction with TIW's WorkShop 7.0 (which is a factory management system) and a FPD 2.6 application (yes, that is FoxPro for DOS). We have a lot of prg files originally written in FPD that are used to shuffle data between the Pro Series, the WorkShop app, and the FPD app. All in all, its quite a hodge podge and needs a lot of work.
>
>Some of the changes we want to make lend themselves to working within the existing Pro Series or WorkShop environment (such as adding new fields to existing tables and adding controls to existing forms so that the users can enter/edit data in the new fields). If you have done some of that, I would appreciate any tips or insights you could pass along. I have done some of this sort of thing to the WorkShop app but am just getting started with some mods to the Pro Series app.
>
>I have already replaced some of the FPD prg files with VFP forms called from one of the VFP apps or in some cases as standalone VFP apps (usually just single forms). There are others that really should be incorporated into the Pro Series or WorkShop apps as customizations.
>
>More recently, over the past few months, I have developed several auxillary apps using Visual MaxFrame 5.0 that access some of the free tables from WorkShop in addition to newly created tables in a database container associated with the VMP app. The user interface that is built in to VMP is so much better than that of the Pro Series or WorkShop apps which both seem to me to include a lot of carry over from the old DOS type iterface.
>
>Eventually, when more pressing chores are completed, I will replace our FPD app with a VFP app (probably using VMP). But much of the accounting type functionality of the FPD app could probably be better incorporated into the Pro Series app.
>
>Have you run into any major problems with your work with the Pro Series app? Or had any major conceptual breakthroughs that you could share?

>Thanks very much for any input that you can supply.
