To answer the question (although the article's about VB) check HOWTO: Pass String Data Between Applications Using SendMessage. You might want to do a search on SendMessage() on the MS site, because some more information will come back. However, I'd opt either for a DDE or, preferably, OLE implementation for reasons of ease of implementation and maintenance.
