Hi Evan,

I was at a presentation at Microsoft once (probably about three years ago) and they showed a graph that indicated how many people use the various MS "programming languages."

I don't remember the actual numbers, but both VFP and C++ had about 10-11% of the numbers that VB had. (This is comparable to what you said.) When questioned about it, the speaker said that this data comes from surveys conducted by Microsoft and that the VB numbers include people who answer yes to things as little as doing macros in Word or Excel.

I'm not trying to diminish the popularity of VB compared to VFP, but if you're looking for solid numbers on software developers, it's probably realistic to assume that the VB numbers have some bloat.
