Serious slowdown on two new machines

We recently added two Pentium 4 1.3GHz machines to our office network. When we try to access foxpro tables on our fileserver from those machines, we get a lot of slowdown. We have a benchmark program that opens a few of the tables and browses for records in a couple of them. All of the machines in our office take less than 1 second to run the benchmark where the two new ones take around 16 seconds! The issue seems to be about file locking rather than network connectivity because if we copy the tables into another folder on the fileserver where they are not being accessed by other machines in the office, the benchmark times drop down to acceptable levels on the new machines. We even tried copying the foxpro directory from an older machine over to one of the newer machines, thinking perhaps we forgot some setting when installing foxpro on the new machines, without any change in speed. If anyone has any ideas or has ever experienced this sort of thing, any help would be great.
