I guess, this is combobox native behavior, which probably hard to overcome.

If the field value is empty, show blank, but still only show the RowSource list if the ComboBox is clicked. I guess there is no perfect solution, but the thread you directed me to above help much. Renoir

Yes, it helped me too, though we still didn't resolve this problem with our classes. Here we work as a team and each classes change is critical. My colleague, who is responsible for classes, makes changes very rare and I have to press it really hard. In most cases, we just leave problems...
