Hi Ronald,

I'm afraid I can't offer a comparison of the various distros as I've only ever installed Red Hat. (I have a Debian distro but haven't gotten round to doing anything with it).

There's plenty of information on the web about installation, configuration, etc. However I found that to get all the resources you need when starting out, nothing beats a good book. When I began I got a few books and found the best one to be Red Hat Linux Secrets by Naba Barkarati. It comes with a CD containing a release of Red Hat and I found the installation and config instructions very clear and helpful. It also deals with more advanced topics and I still use it as a reference manual.

Have fun.

Liam
