. Please demonstrate to me that disagreeing with someone is derisive, would you please?
I don't believe anyone objects to someone disagreeing in viewpoint. I guess what seems to stir the hackles is the method and verbeage used in its literal sense when doing so. May those who disagree but remain friends and colleagues live long and prosper!
The whole idea of a discussion is to bring differing viewpoints together and then the reader is given the opportunity to derive the best out of the whole.
Of course, it is demeaning to have a conversation/discussion start getting personal, and in my case, I consider it personal when words like "Get a life",
"You are crazy" and similar remarks creep into what is supposed to be a non derisive remark or reply.
Perhaps this is caused by a big rush to get a post written and on its way, and short curcuits the intellectual reasoning that should be invoked prior to clicking on that send button.
At any rate, you guys keep on participating, ok?
