Greetings Al

>>A client of mine had bad wiring. He was setting up a computer in an office that had ostensibly been wired for Ethernet >>years previously; however, no computer had ever been set up in that office before his. He had similar problems to >>what you're seeing.

>>He rolled his computer table into another office with a known good connection and he had no problems.

>>Unless your patch cable from your PC to the wall jack is "known good", try a replacement there too.

I have tried two patch cables, but what I'm going to try next is to connect to the printer from another 2k machine in another room. If that doesn't work then it points to a fault on the host pc. If it does, then I'll try my own machine from that connection point. If that doesn't work (and the first 2k machine did) then it points to a still untraced fault on my own)

Thanks for the inspiration.

Any other ideas out there folks?

Harry
