use a write to force a fresh read ? not the first time I've been impressed with Microsoft logic! ( All those years of being told NOT to write to the hard drive unless necessary because it caused a bottleneck ! )

I can see why it works, though!

My problem is two servers ( one plain foxisapi, one web connect ) and it was taking 10 seconds for the data to bounce around, which seemed to be related to a 5 second refresh buried in the OS somewhere, since SET REFRESH made no difference.

Since these are passive polling servers ( they loop unless there is a flagged record ), I didn't think that writing the disk was a good idea, they'd both be writing to the drive thousand's of times a day !

When this is all settled down, I think I'll write a test loop for two WC methods to see how fast the various options are! ANd see if using only WC works better!

thx for the tip! and since my IIS is operational again, I am back to the Fox issues!

Mike
