If you still need this, take a look to the CDO (MAPI.Session and MAPI.Message objects), called 'Active Messaging' for earlier versions. They allow to mark body as HTML. I guess this is just an additional field in the message that marks that message is in HTML format. I guess you can add the same thing into the message using MAPI, however, I do not know these formats.
