Says here about FP 6 having a 2 gig file limit. on dbf's but how that relates if At all the memo files, I really dont know.

Your response seem to be talking about the size of the drive, not the limit on the files in in OS. I know windows can now handle much larger drives now, but each file ? I do question that.

any insight ?

>>I may be wrong on this, but I recall, reading that windows itself has a 2 gig file size limit, so the problem is not so much fox, but a litmit of the os.

>To add to what Erik said, the limitation was acutally twofold. First, the older ROM BIOSes had a limitation of 2gb For example, my old P200 which I bought in April of 1997 and was top of the line at the time, had this limitation. When I installed a 13 gb hard drive, the installation included a patch for the BIOS to handle this.

>The original release of Win95 had a function (GetDiskFreeSpace()) in the API that capped the return value size at 2gb. Since, however, Win 95 OSR 2, this is not the case, as the function has been superceded by GetDiskFreeSpaceEx(). VFP through 6.0 SP5, however, uses the older function to retrieve the values for DISKSPACE() and SYS(2020), and therefore will not return a value for either greater than 2gb.
In the beginning, there was a command prompt, and all was well.
