dear sir,
i have encountered that same problem when i installed IIS on my win2kpro. my computer's name is zion. so my goal was to be able to run my ASPs using http://zion/ and http://localhost/ i have tried to resolve the problem by doing this:
[on IIS]
i right-clicked on the default WWW site then clicked properties
i filled out the following Website Identfication
- description: zion
- ip address: [all unassigned]
- i click the Advanced button
[for my localhost]
- on the 1st frame i clicked "all unassigned" then click edit
- then i typed in Identification:
- ip add: all unassigned
- tcp port: 80
- host header name: localhost (then ok)
[for my comp. name zion]
- on the 1st frame again i clicked the add button and typed the following infomation
- ip add: all unassigned
- tcp port: 80
- host header name: zion (then ok)
- tcp port: 80
using a testfile called default.html (btw, u have to add this in the Documents because the predefined default pages on IIS are Default.htm and Default.asp only) i tested on the browser both
http://localhost/default.html and
http://zion/default.html and it both worked ok.
i just thought i'd share this with you incase it would be of any help.
thanks.
