>My company has purchased new computers and it appears that we are having problems with our VFP applications and the computers. The new computers are Pentium 4 1.7 GHZ 128 MB Ram and we are running VFP 3.0 Based programs. For some reason we keep getting out of memory errors while working in them? These problems never occured with our old machines which were 100 MhZ and 200 Mhz machines. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the cause may be.

Todd,
What OS are you running. If it's NT or 2K, I may have a fix for you.

We had a similar problem when going from 200 MHz machines with 192MB to 400MHz machines with 392MB. We could not get VFP3 to even load. We kept getting the out of memory message. I searched the KB and found Q137809 referring to problems with over 512MB. In desperation I tried the fix suggested anyway. Our problem was solved by restricting NT's memory as sugggested in the KB article.

We used /MAXMEM=128 in the boot.ini file. Note, everthing worked fine on slower machines with 192MB but /MAXMEM=192 won't work on our faster machines. It appears the problem may be processor speed dependent.

If you are running NT or 2K try using the maxmem switch to lower the amount of available memory.
