I am running SQL 7 on a Win2K Server with 2 GB RAM. The databases I have are a total of 6-7 GB (with the Turncate-Log-on-Checkpoint setting checked). I notice that 15 - 20 minutes after a restart, the memory allocated to SQL Server reaches its maximum allocated (1.9 GB). Is this common? Will SQL take ALL the memory provided?
Assuming that I run only SQL Server only on that machine, how much memory is it wise to allocate to SQL server? How much memory should be left to the OS? Would additional memory increase performance?
Thank you,
Aristotle
