You should have refernce to the parent object, like TYPE('thisform.lvVar[1]').
It is not quit clear why "(TYPE('lvVar(1)')<>'U' did'nt work". Do yuo get any error message?

how to decide if an object's property is an Array?
The way for an variable (TYPE('lvVar(1)')<>'U' did'nt work.

I try to use an error event to trap with ALEN(lvVar) but this fails since I need to test within errorhandler.
