I totally second that motion. using a connection string, is straight forward. and to the point.

I started with a simple ini file, which is being read in with filetostr() command, I think now, that I am starting with xml this sort of string, should be created, and saved as an xml file, that way, I could have various records stored in a (xml file) very easy to edit and maintain.

But just to the point, why bother with dsn record at all. no need for it.


>Why not use ODBC connection string instead of setting up ODBC data source on each machine? Connection desiner have an option to use ODBC string, as well as you can use SQLStringConnact() function for case you used SQL Pass-Through functions approach in your application.
