What is the data type of the control source. Is it logical, numeric, or character?

You may need to "prep" the data after the append blank like this

ThisForm.nTransId = -1
REQUERY("MyView")
append blank
replace optiongroupfield with .f. or
replace optiongroupfield with 0 or
replace optiongroupfield with [YES]
thisform.refresh()
