That's the problem of narrowing down "linear programming". It's based in linear algebra, theoretically, but also touches combinatorial issues, and others. And, because it has a lot of "real world" application, almost any book on applied math will have some discussion.

I hope that we've addressed Martin's issue. Some of that may be relevant to a project I'm working on, so, interesting to get into the literature again.

>There is a book by R.P. Vichas; "Handbook of Financial Mathematics, Formulas and Tables" (Prentice Hall). The last few chapters discuss linear methods to "maximize gains and minimize losses". It offers some simple CPM/MRP solutions.
