There is a difference between reading reply which is filtered to all forums no matter what mode you're working with and the ability to read new messages without changing forum. Working virtual allows you to read new messages as is where the content contains all new messages as per your forum list of participation. So, if you have checked 5 forums to participate on, you'll get all those new messages from them. That has been the default for new members since a few months now. Basically, at 95%, they keep that setting as is as working virtual is a real time saver and all the content is available as is.
