I ran a test with 10,000,000 records (of 34 char. each) with 4 indexes.
The file sizes were: DBF= 341,798KB; CDX= 220,159KB

Re-booted between REINDEX and rebuild technique. The timings were:

REINDEX: 312.690 seconds
Rebuild: 320.362 seconds

It's clear to me (now) based on this and other reports that there is virtually no difference between the two techniques!

So sticking with whatever one uses already is the most practical option.

Oh well, at least I learned that there's no bloat with REINDEX.
