Hi Mike,

>CDX bloat or no, and reindex speed aside, if the cdx header gets corrupted, you cannot reindex. So why try to use reindex? I just tried a reindex on a million records which took 13 seconds. There are three tags, field1, field2 and
field3. The 3 index on commands took 11 seconds.

For me, REINDEX has the advantage over INDEX ON that I don't have to re-set the relations in the database container. In an event of CDX header corruption, (which IMO opinion is less frequent than in FOX 2.x times) your can take a copy of an empty CDX file, place it over the corrupt one and then reindex.
