An event is something that happens. We know them best as ErrorEvent, ClickEvent, InteractiveChangeEvent. We can put code in those event methods so that we can do something. Now exapnd that out to COM components. What happens when an event occurs there. For example, there is an ADO error. We can now bind Fox code to that event.
