ACT is NOT written in VFP. It uses DBFs for it's data, but it most definately is NOT written in VFP.

>>Hello everybody,
>>
>>My manager does not believe that VFP is an "enterprise solution" and our clients will not take us seriously if we use it.
>>
>>I just wanted to get a list of some high profile web sites, besides this one, that use VFP as the middle tier or even as the back-end. It's my last ditch effort to get management to consider VFP as viable option.

>>Thanks in advance,

>Perhaps you should refer them to the Euro Tunnel and Desert Storm examples of FoxPro being used at levels higher than many "enterprises"

>When the US army required a database package developed at short notice to manage the complex process of handling men and materials and getting them to the right place at the right time during Desert Storm and the troubles with Iraq they chose FoxPro. The success of Desert Storm speaks volumes for the success of this solution.

>More recently the Euro Tunnel chose Visual FoxPro as the tool to develop a solution handling over 128 gigabytes of data. The requirements were that the application should be fast, integrate with existing systems, be stable, maintainable and manage 128GB of data.
>
>The software had to be developed within very short timescales. It had to operate seven days a week, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year - with just half an hour per day allocated to system maintenance and backup.

>Or better yet, just do some quick research on the Web to find the major applications written in VFP. Wind2, SBT and ACT! are just a few.
>
>Better yet, do they realize how extensively various departments within NYS utilize it as well? Taxation and Finance (our favorite dept :), Encon, and Health Services all do...
