I backed down because after I issued the challenge, a client emergency happened and I was unable to meet the challenge. Meanwhile, it got perverted into an ASCII vs. Unicode deal and the VB side was able to steal the show with Unicode examples that had nothing to do with the original challenge.
So, as far as I am concerned, the benchmark was never really established.
