If it wasn't hard, everybody would do it!
At the end of it you'll have two hats- a technology hat and a legal hat, giving you an advantage over your legal peers who may know the law but don't understand the business as you do... business understanding allowing you to broker deals using business cues the others could never dream up.
I should know- I spent >12 years at "school" as you call it. Nothing to do with technology, either.
