Hi Folks,

I have SQL7 installed on my laptop and can run all my applications that access the database quite happily when I am connected to our company network.

However, if I am not on the network (burning the midnight oil in a hotel somewhere...) I am getting connecttion and timeout errors and applications are just refusung to connect to the database. Even the a trace wizard in Enterprise Manager throws back a timeout error!

What is weird is that if I connect manually (e.g. through a SQLConnect string in say, Visual FoxPro, I can connect, but the response is slow - taking over 20 seconds to bring back 1 record from a total of 20!!!)

FYI I'm running on Windows 98, have SQL Server 7 (up to SP3) and MDAC 2.6 loaded

Any ideas you have would be appreciated!
