Didn't you, perchance, install Visual SourceSafe, or another source control / version control software?
Visual FoxPro neads to recompile forms, classes, etc. These files can't be R/O! First, check if any component of the project is R/O. Second, if you use version control, change the options, so your local files are
not R/O.
