Both products have a 30 or 60 days money-back guarantee. My advice is that you try both of them and decide which one suits your developing style better.

I tried promatrix, but it didn't go with my style (I don't like using wizards), and after returning it, tried mere mortals and felt at home with it.

In MY OPINION, if I had to use one sentence to describe each of them, Promatrix is an applications generator and VFE is a collection of classes.

The only advice I can give you (which I actually got from someone at Promatrix) is to walk away from the computer for a day and read the manual COVER TO COVER before you try to do anything.
